Unfortunately at the present time we are unable to recycle aluminium foil in
the household recycling wheeled bins. It is too small to be sorted at the
Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
You can take aluminium foil to any of the public Household Waste Recycling
Centres (HWRCs) , located in Bordon, Petersfield and Alton. Foil can be placed
in can banks at the HWRCs for recycling, because these banks are not taken to
the MRF for sorting.
Some charities also collect foil for recycling, ask at your local charity
shops.
Please see the Council's current Waste Collection, Household
AWC. We currently accept the following materials in your black recycling
wheelie bin:
Recycling (Clean, Dry and Loose)
Newspapers / Magazines and Cardboard
Cans, Drink and Food
Plastic Bottles Only
No Other plastics
No Glass
No Shredded paper
No Polystyrene
No Tetra Paks (Drinks cartons)
It is important that only these items are placed in your black kerbside bin
for recycling, otherwise your bin cannot be collected. Other items which are
not recyclable through our kerbside service should be either placed in your
refuse bin for energy recovery, or taken to your nearest HWRC for disposal.
Plase also see, Recycling Glass, How, Where and What? and Location of "Bring"
Recycling sites (Inc HWRCs).
Also the Project Integra Waste Exchange
Directory gives more information on other types of materials that can be
recycled by private contractors.
All the recyclables collected are taken to a Materials Recovery Facility
(MRF) in Portsmouth or Alton. Once the materials have been sorted, they are
put into bales and sold to manufacturers for re-use in new products.
