Community Transport in East Hampshire

The Good Neighbours Network provides governance support to over 100 independent, self-sustaining Good Neighbours groups across Hampshire.  Good Neighbours groups in East Hampshire help people in their communities with transport to medical appointments, help with shopping and prescription collection.  

Some examples of the Good Neighbours Network in East Hampshire include:

  • Bordon and Whitehill Voluntary Car Service. This service transports residents to any medical appointments, not including London hospitals, for a cost of 45p a mile or £3 if local. The service can be contacted on 07596 701312.
  • Petersfield Voluntary Care Group operates a bookable car service out of Winton House. With 24 hours’ notice, clients can book a car to take them to GP appointments, hospital appointments, prescription collection and shopping. A small donation is requested to cover transport costs, Ukrainian refugees are not charged for the service.

Connect Call & Go East Hampshire is a bookable service for anyone whose transport needs are not met by public transport.  Connect Call & Go is an HCC scheme and is operated in East Hants by Community First. Current services provided by the scheme include:

  • 1 bus to Alton on Tuesday each week from Bordon and surrounding villages.  
  • 2 buses to Petersfield on Wednesday of each week from Bordon and surrounding villages.  
  • Last Saturday of the month there are Call & Go Outings service to various destinations e.g. Portsmouth, Worthing, Garden Centres, Reading etc. at a cost of £12 return journey.  
  • Local health stops such as GP surgeries. 

Connect Call & Go Havant operates in the same way and serves the Southern Parishes in the district.

Community First Minibus Hire provides a fully accessible minibus service, that can be hired out by members for regular or one-off trips. The minibus can be hired for regular or one-off trips, providing door-to-door service if needed. The bus can be hired with a driver, or groups can provide their own qualified driver.

Wheels to Work is an HCC moped loan service, delivered in East Hants by Community First. This service is available across the whole of East Hampshire District. It is targeted at younger people who have no access to private or public transport to independently get to work, apprenticeships, training or job interviews. Mopeds are hired following a refundable deposit of £100. There is then a weekly cost dependent on the age of hirer and the size of the moped.

Alton Community Bus is a minibus that can be hired for specific charity, support, or community purposes. Every Tuesday the bus transports a group of elderly individuals to a community club. The bus is fully accessible.

Driving Miss Daisy is a driving and companion service which operates from Alton. This service provides transport to medical appointments, shopping trips and social outings. The cost is dependent on the client and service being offered. Most of the vehicles operated from this service are fully accessible.

Grayshott Community Care covers the GU26 area and operates a volunteer-led community transport service. The service is contactable via a phoneline that is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and can be reached on 07498 068224.  

Shopmobility scheme

Alton

Alton Community Association runs a shopmobility scheme in Alton from the Community Centre. We have mobility scooters and manual wheelchairs available for hire by the hour. Please call 01420 85057 for further details.

Petersfield

South Downs Association of Disabled People runs a shopmobility scheme in Petersfield. We are situated in the Central Car Park in Petersfield – close to Ramswalk Shopping Precinct. It is available 5 days a week, Monday to Friday 10am-4pm. Please call 01730 710474 for further details.
