Petersfield is located in the central part of East Hampshire, has benefited from considerable investment in recent years. The town has a population of 13,000 people.  Located alongside the A3 and with a one hour service to London the town is well situated to serve the needs of businesses trading in national and international markets. Over 25 percent of the employment in East Hampshire is situated in Petersfield and the surrounding villages such as Liss.

The main employment sectors are pharmaceuticals and toiletries, manufacturing, private and public sector services - local government, health, social services.

The town's retail position has been strengthened with the creation of the Rams Walk shopping mall, with Waitrose as the anchor store. Significant environmental improvements have been stimulated by the Department of Transports National Bypass Demonstration Project following the completion of the A3 Bypass.

Petersfield holds regular market days in the Town Square.
