• provide a signpost to business information, advice and support;
• raise awareness of the benefits of investment in the local economy by existing and new companies;
• and provide facts and figures about East Hampshire.

About the Economic Development Office

The Economic Development Office provides support to the local economy in East Hampshire. Together with its partners, the Office provides a range of advice and information to local businesses with a view to encouraging growth, competitiveness and investment. The Office runs programmes and projects including:-

• Business information and advice - Investment in the district, Online Business Directory and Commercial Property Register
  
  Find out all you need to know about doing business in East Hampshire, support services and organisations, business regulation, facts and figures on the area, selling to the Council and much more!

• Recession Advice

• Grants - Start-up Business Incentive grants scheme, Village Community Grants and Rural Development Programme for England(LEADER funding).

• Tourism Sector Support - support for new and existing tourism businesses, Local Explorer Card - offers discounts to participating attractions, tourist information centres and tourist destinations in East Hampshire.

• Small Rural Towns Programme - Alton 2020 Initiative and the Whitehill & Bordon Town Centre Improvement Project.

3. Small Business Concordat - aimed at encouraging effective trade between the district council and small businesses. 

The role of the Economic Development Office is to:

• develop, promote and action local initiatives;
• encourage partners to use all opportunities to meet their objectives and targets in East Hampshire;
• work with partners on research, joint projects and external funding opportunities of benefit to East Hampshire;
•  develop networks, partnerships and means of communications which contribute to the economic success of East Hampshire;
• develop and promote local signposting, information and database services to enable business and investors to benefit from a deeper knowledge about the East Hampshire economy;
• contribute to the development of District Council and partner services which meet the needs of the business customer;
• ensure that the requirement for sustainable economic development is reflected in the District Council's corporate activities, strategies, policies, and practices;
• contribute to the achievement of the Council's wider corporate and community aims.
