Make sure you stay in accommodation that has a star rating from Enjoy England or the AA, so that you can be sure it has been checked out before you check in.

 

All accommodation listed on the Visit Hampshire site and in our guide has been quality assessed, either by Enjoy England or the AA, and awarded one to five stars. The professional assessors visit every year.  A quality score is awarded for every aspect of the experience including comfort, the quality of the breakfast and dinner, warmth of weclome and, most importantly, cleanliness.

For self-catering accommodation, the layout and design of the accommodation and the range and quality of the kitchen equipment is assessed, as well as the quality and comfort of the bedrooms and bathrooms and most importantly, cleanliness. 

Hotels have to be licensed, offer dinner at least 5 nights a week and have all rooms en suite or with private bathrooms.

Guest accommodation includes: 
Bed and Breakfasts, Guest Houses, Inns, Farmhouses and Restaurants with Rooms. They tend to be personally run by the owners.
