Walking in East Hampshire
Footpaths
Long distance footpaths cross East Hampshire. The Staunton Way, The Hangers Way, and The South Downs Way meet just south of Petersfield. The St. Swithuns Way passes through Alton. Local walks include: the Liss Riverside Railway Walk, three circular walks in and around the Market Town of Alton and the Deadwater Valley Walk in Whitehill Bordon.
You can use interactive rights of way maps online at Hampshire County Council's website to plan walks and rides, report a problem with a right of way, or search for rights of way by postcode or placename.
Literary Walks in East Hampshire
East Hampshire is home to some of Britain's literary greats. You can follow in the footsteps of these writers, including Jane Austen and Flora Thompson, on 6 self-guided walks.

Shipwrights Way
A new long-distance path linking villages and towns in East Hampshire, from Bentley, through Alice Holt Forest and Queen Elizabeth Country Park and ultimately to Portsmouth. It can be used by walkers and cyclists, and, where possible, horse-riders and people with disabilities.
Three sections are now open, from Bentley Station to Alice Holt, from Alice Holt to Cradle Lane and from Buriton into Queen Elizabeth Country Park
