Activity Leaders - Healthy Schools

The aim of the project is to train willing young volunteers to organise active lunch time games for other children in their school.

It has been developed to support primary schools in delivering the 'Physical Activity' focus area of the Healthy Schools Scheme.

The Activity Leader Project has 2 strands:

        • Delivery of the Training to the Activity Leaders
        • Cascade Train the Trainers

Training package

Children are invited to apply to become Activity Leaders. During the course (which is made up of 6 sessions each lasting 45 minutes) the children are supplied with weekly worksheet handouts to build into a reference manual for them to keep. At the end of the course the children are presented with a Certificate of Achievement for their personal records.

See attachments for examples of application letters, worksheets/handouts and session plans.

Components of the course include:

  • Session 1   What are Activity Leaders

  • Session 2b Organising an Activity 2

  • Session 3b Advertising and Promoting an Activity 2
