Advice on what to do after heavy snowfall
During adverse weather conditions such as heavy snow fall, it may be necessary to suspend burials within our cemeteries. Where this arises we will be in contact with the relevant families and funeral directors as soon as possible.
In addition, the access roads and pathways in some of the cemeteries may become inaccessible or dangerous during for example heavy snowfall. These areas may not necessarily be the first priority for clearance. Members of the public are advised not to visit Council Cemeteries during periods of severe adverse weather such as heavy snowfall because of the risks of accidents.
Please note that it may not be practical for Council staff to visit the cemeteries and post signs on the sites. If in doubt telephone advice can be obtained from the Council.
