    Emergency Planning

    lashamfire1

    Our aim:

'To work with partners to secure the provision of effective and efficient emergency management arrangements to mitigate the effects of any emergency affecting the people, property or environment of East Hampshire.'

The objectives of the Emergency Planning Section is to plan for a flexible approach to all manner of emergencies.   This will enable EHDC to respond effectively and in a way that is fully integrated with the response procedures of the emergency services, other local authorities and other partner agencies as required by the Civil Contingencies Act.

The Civil Contingencies Act replaced both the Civil Defence Act 1948 and the Emergency Powers Act 1920, and addresses the contingency planning and emergency management responsibilities of local authorities and other agencies, such as the emergency services, as well as providing the framework by which the government may invoke emergency powers.  A more detailed explaination of the legislation and the responsibilities placed on Local Authorities can be found at our Civil Contingencies Act pages.

We hope that the following pages answer all of your questions, if not please contact us.
