    Miscellaneous Complaints

    Light pollution

Light pollution is an area where the Council has recently had new powers to deal with problems. If you are having problems with light from a neighbour, we would normally ask you to speak to your neighbour directly about the problem. Often people do not realise that their light can be seen beyond their own boundary  and so are unaware that it is causing problems.

If speaking to your neighbour does not help, please contact us and we will investigate whether a problem is occuring.

    Unauthorised encampments

The Council has a policy for dealing with unauthorised encampments, in line with Governments guidance.  This policy states that where the encampment is not causing a nuisance, it should be tolerated.  Prior to taking any action, which may lead, to the eviction of the travellers, the Council is required to carry out a "needs assessment".  This involves finding out if the travellers have any medical, housing or education needs - these must be taken into account when considering whether to evict.
