Pest control - Conditions of Service
The Pest Control service is provided with a number of conditions:
- To cancel a treatment the customer must contact us at the latest by 4 PM the previous working day before the date of the first visit. Failure to comply with this condition may result in the treatment being cancelled and the customer will remain liable for the full cost.
- The customer must arrange to provide full payment by credit or debit card at the time of booking.
- The customer must ensure that access is provided to all parts of their premises that are necessary for effective treatment for all visits. Failure to comply with this condition may result in the treatment being cancelled and the customer will remain liable for the full cost.
- Where in the opinion of the Pest Management Officer we are unable to provide an effective treatment for the pest, EHDC reserves the right to cancel the treatment and provide a full refund.
- Where in the course of providing a pest treatment, in the opinion of the Pest Management Officer it is unsafe to continue, EHDC reserve the right to cancel the service and provide a full refund.
- Treatment will only be provided were it is practical to access all necessary parts of the premises, without the need to work at height or from ladders. Ladders will only be used to access loft spaces if safe to do so. If the treatment is not practicable to complete as a result, EHDC reserve the right to cancel the service and provide a full refund.
- EHDC is also a regulatory body. The service is provided on the condition that we may share public health and food safety information with the authority’s regulatory services. We reserve the right to cancel the treatment and refund any fees collected if we believe that a conflict of interest may arise.
- EHDC reserves the right to review our service provision from time to time. This may result in the withdrawal of any treatment service at any time. In this respect it should be noted that wasp treatment is only provided during the summer season. The start and finish times are determined by the authority according to local circumstances.
- The carrying out of some treatments requires that pesticides are used at the customer’s premises. The Pest Management Officer will assess the risks to the customer and wildlife during his visit and carry out the work in a way that minimises risks. The risks associated with any pesticide used will also be communicated to the customer. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that any instructions given are complied with and that any pesticides left on site are not interfered with.
- If EHDC is notified that any treatment provided by us was unsuccessful within four weeks of completion, we will review the circumstances and if necessary repeat the treatment for free. Free treatment will not be provided if in the opinion of the Pest Management Officer conditions at the customer’s premises pose a significant risk of repeat infestations. For example, customers who keep domestic fowl or have stables will not be eligible. Customers who have failed to take reasonable measures to prevent repeat infestations will also not be eligible, even if you are in receipt of qualifying benefits.
- In exceptional circumstances (e.g. staff sickness) EHDC may need to cancel booked visits at short notice. In these circumstances we will provide as much notice as possible and re-arrange or re-commence the treatment as necessary.
