    Young People - Citizenship

citizenshipAlthough we do not have a responsibility for Schools within the district (this responsibility lies with Hampshire County Council), we do offer Citizenship lessons to pupils of schools within East Hampshire. The Citizenship programme is offered to secondary school pupils.

This course has been developed over the past ten years, and gathers information from over a thousand students every year. The programme consists of either a series of lessons or a one day event where young people talk about how we make decisions, take part in a real vote, provide us with information about the things that they want to change in their local area, learn how to make projects happen, and lobby their ward councillor on their priority issue. There are opportunities for students to continue their projects outside of school, and the way in which the scheme is delivered can be tailored around your school’s needs.

    School Councils

We can also offer training for your school council, we can supply ballot boxes and training in order to help your school council elections run smoothly.

If you would like more information about our scheme, how it has developed, how it could work for your school or Council, or you are a local partner who would like to access the results form our consultations with young people, please contact lara.nolan@easthants.gov.uk or phone her on 01730 234186.
