    South West Trains

South West Trains - new rolling stockSouth West Trains have recently been awarded the new South Western rail franchise for the next 10 years.
Two main rail routes run through the East Hampshire District Council area:

    1. Trains run from Alton, via Bentley to Farnham, Aldershot and London Waterloo.
    2. Trains run from Portsmouth to London Waterloo, calling at the following stations in East Hampshire: Rowlands Castle, Petersfield, Liss and Liphook. A Rail-Link Bus, covering the Bordon and Whitehill area, connects with trains at Liphook station. You can buy tickets on the bus to cover both bus and rail journeys.

South West Trains have an excellent website which enables you to find train times and has a live departure board to see how your train is running. This can be found at www.southwesttrains.co.uk/SWTrains/

There are two active Rail Forums in the East Hampshire area. One is based in the Alton area (Alton Line Users Group); the other is based around the stations on the Portsmouth-London Waterloo line. Details of both can be obtained from Gwil Williams, East Hampshire District Council's Transport Development Officer on 01730 234013.
