Roads, Highways and Pavements

Hampshire County Council, as the Highways Authority, is responsible for maintaining Hampshire's roads and footways. It is not responsible for maintaining motorways and trunk roads; these are the responsibility of the Highways Agency- check their website on www.highways.gov.uk/.

In addition, the roads in Portsmouth and Southampton are maintained by the respective unitary authorities.
