1st Eco Day event for Open Sight
Open Sight, newly named Hampshire Association for the Care of the Blind held it’s first ever Sponsored Eco Day on Tuesday 29th May at Netley foreshore as part of it’s commitment towards the environment. Visually impaired youngsters and their mums joined VSO Global Xchange student Cddyqa Rogel, who is currently working with Eastleigh borough’s refuse department to litter pick the foreshore.
The two boys, John James Entwhistle & Daniel Cooke, both aged 13 raised £66 between them and had a great time in the fresh air collecting rubbish. John James said” it’s amazing the amount of rubbish that people leave behind, I care a lot about the environment I think most kids do & I am proud to be able to raise money for Open Sight at the same time as helping the environment”.
If you would like to help us with more Eco events we are looking for volunteers who would like to work with youngsters across Hampshire with different projects to help clean up the environment.
