50 Years Old And Still Snapping

Alton Camera Club celebrates its 50th anniversary in September with an exhibition of its members work and a series of workshops at the Allen Gallery in Alton.

The exhibition will be opened on 31st of August by Town Mayor, Councillor Robyn Fitzer and runs until the 22nd of September. It will feature photographic prints and a slide show from the last fifty years with the emphasis on the newer work of the club’s members. The gallery is open between 10am and 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and admission is free.

On the Saturday 1st, between 10:30 and 12, there will be a special children’s drop in session with club member and local professional photographer Chris Pearce.
“We’re planning to take people through the whole process of taking better photographs and then editing them using software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements. Anyone is welcome to come along and find out more about photography or the camera club and we look forward to a fun day” says Chris.
There will be a further advice session on Saturday 15th at the same time and on Thursday 6th September at 7.30 pm there will be a projection of images showing many of the changes in Alton over the last 40 years.

Founded on Friday 25th October 1957, the club meets on Friday evenings at 100 Normandy Street, Alton and still enjoys an exciting program of events, competitions and lectures. New members are very welcome and more information can be found at www.altoncameraclub.org.uk.
