Alton Friends of the Earth group to be re-launched

Alton Friends of the Earth will be holding a re-launch meeting with a free viewing of Al Gore’s film ‘An Inconvenient Truth’.

Alton Friends of the Earth concerns itself with environmental issues at national level and local issues particularly in the Alton area.

The re-launch meeting will be held on Tuesday 17 April at Alton Maltings. The screening of the film will begin at 8pm in the Saxon Suite. All are very welcome and there will be free organic popcorn for the early birds. Refreshments will be
available for purchase and will be provided by Lantern Foods, Alton.

After the film there will be an opportunity to have your say and hear what
others are saying about Climate Change by joining in a question and answer
session with two prospective parliamentary candidates and Nick Davies, a spokesperson from the Parliamentary Unit of Friends of the Earth.

Alton Friends of the Earth will meet from then on, every third Tuesday of the
month in the Target room at Alton Maltings at 7.30 pm so the next meeting
will be on Tuesday May 15.

Alton Friends of the Earth has had recent success in introducing a very easy access point for household battery recycling in Sainsbury’s foyer, which will start in May. You may have seen similar collection points in supermarkets across Europe. It will allow you to dispose of all the different types of household batteries easily when you visit Sainsbury's. At the moment the month of May is a trial period, but we hope that demand will mean that it becomes permanent.
