Chawton Gardens open their gates to all

Projects within Chawton are to get a financial boost when up to seventeen gardens open their gates to the public over the weekend of the 9th and 10th of June.

Members of the public will be able to visit a wide variety of gardens in the historic village, including the newly restored gardens of Chawton House and the garden at Jane Austen’s House.

Chawton Open Gardens Event runs between 1pm and 5.30pm on both days. Tickets may be purchased on the day at the village hall, £5 for adults with accompanied children free.

The proceeds will benefit local Chawton projects such as St Nicholas Church, The Bells Restoration Fund and Chawton House Library. Other attractions will include local arts and crafts, horse and carriage rides, plant stalls, teas and cakes and Morris dancers on the Sunday. Parking is free.
