Days of Hope is outstanding
Liss Woodcraft Folk have received the highest judgement possible from the Ofsted Inspectorate for their Days of Hope Summer Playscheme that ran throughout August.
They have been given an 'Outstanding' in helping children to achieve and enjoy what they do. The report stated "The children achieve well because the staff are skilled and use their good understanding of children's developmental needs to provide excellent quality of care."
The report also praised staff for planning exciting first-hand experiences that help children to develop a wide range of skills and independence and for their provision of cultural opportunities through offering sessions influenced by the African and Australian countries.
Recognition was given to the staff of Liss Woodcraft Folk for caring for children in a stimulating environment which is safe and secure. Staff were described as extremely friendly, approachable with good knowledge of child protection procedures and the ability to recognise what help is required by special needs children.
Pam Gruber, project co-ordinator for the Days of Hope Playscheme said, "I am absolutely delighted with this result. The staff work extremely hard at a time when most people are enjoying a welcome summer break. This is so rewarding for our young workers Richard Kinge, Abi Edwards and Paul Gruber who give up there time to help young children enjoy themselves."
The group's policies also came in for praise being described as very well written.
The scheme this year was staffed by Pam Gruber, Lee Edwards and Andrea Paget with help from Jane Mackrell and Lorna Bateman.
Liss Woodcraft Folk have now resumed the running of their Friday youth club at the Triangle Centre, Liss and the Monday group for over 13's at St Mary's Hall. Anyone interested in their work can contact Pam Gruber on 01730 301 270 or checkout the website www.lisswoodcraftfolk.org.uk
