Invitation to Home-Start Butser AGM
Home-Start Butser, a local charity supporting children and families under stress is holding it’s AGM at The Rose Room, Town Hall, Heath Road, Petersfield on Wednesday 11 July. Starting with tea and coffee at midday, the meeting will be opened by the town mayor, Councillor Paul Molloy and features a talk by volunteers and their families entitled ‘A Step in the Right Direction : How Home-Start Has Changed My Life ‘. After the meeting a light buffet lunch will be served.
Since 1998 Home-Start has supported on average more than 50 local families and 100 children each year in the East Hampshire area, including East Meon, Horndean, Liss, Clanfield Petersfield and Rowlands Castle.
Nicola Winter, Senior Organiser at Home-Start Butser says: ”Volunteers, who know about being a parent, support other parents. It’s a simple idea that really works. They offer support to families with young children who are experiencing loneliness, isolation or feeling they can’t cope with the pressures of daily life. A weekly visit from a volunteer for a couple of hours can make all the difference.”
Parents who have used Home-Start have said:
“It felt hard to ask for help at first but once the volunteer started coming to visit, I wished I’d done it years ago.”
“With Home-Start’s help I got through a terrible time, and now my house is full of hope and laughter.”
“Knowing that someone cares is wonderful. The feeling of loneliness and despair disappears entirely.”
If you would like to join the Home-Start committee, nominations should be made in writing to the Home-Start Office by 4 July 2007, including names of a proposer and seconder. Further information about joining the committee can be obtained by contacting Nicola Winter on 01703 233755 or emailing office@homestart-butser.org.uk.
