Lavender Farm Opens Its Gates For Charity

English Hampshire Lavender based at Hartley Park Farm on the Selborne Road, near Alton is hosting several open days in aid of local charity Over The Wall.

Running between 11am and 4:30pm, the open days are Saturday 30th June, Sunday 1st July, Friday 6th July and Saturday 7th July. Entry is £2 and all proceeds are going to Alton based charity Over The Wall that provides residential activity camps for children affected by very serious illnesses.

The Open Day will introduce the splendours of this wonderful farm and provide information on the processes needed to make the wonderful products sold on the premises. With over twenty four acres of lavender growing at Hartley Park Farm, 700 litres of pure lavender oil is produced when it is harvested in July and August. This oil is then used to produce a wide range of skin care products, soaps, essential oils and scented home wares all of which are available at the farm shop. After harvesting they distil the lavender at their own distillery on the farm. The lavender oil is then left to mature for several months before the body care range of products are made

At the farm four species of lavender are grown: Folgate with a mild aroma which produces a top quality English lavender oil; Maillette, originally from France with a strong perfume, also for top quality essential lavender oil; Imperial Gem and Grosso which are primarily used for dried production and bunching because of their vibrant colour. Grosso produces the pungent and abundant lavandin oil.
The products contain their own quality lavender grown on the farm.
