Democracy - Improving people's lives
Local democracy is about local people working together to improve things in their communities. We aim to encourage more people and organisations to get involved and address issues that affect their lives.
Part of this is making agendas and minutes of councillor's meetings open to the public, encouraging everyone to make sure they are registered to vote, working closely with parish and town councils, and effective planning for local meetings and issues.
How to get involved
People get involved in local democracy in many ways. You don't have to stand for Parliament to be part of it!
We welcome members of the public to our meetings, and they are a good way of making a difference in your local community.
You can keep in touch with the issues in your area through regular bulletins, or by contacting your councillor.
Using your vote
Not only is it important that you have your say in how your district is run, you are also required by law to give us information about who is eligible to vote. Make sure you are registered!
East Hampshire Youth Council
Young people have a lot to offer, and we think it is important to give them the chance not only to tell us what they think but to have control over how some of the council's money is spent. We are always looking for more young people to get involved in the Youth Council - get in touch, it's interesting and fun.
