Tips on Addressing the Committee on Planning Issues
Keep your observations brief and relevant.
Remember 3 minutes isn't long!
Speak slowly and clearly.
Try to limit your views to relevant planning issues, for example:
- external design, appearance and layout;
- loss of light or overshadowing;
- highway safety;
- planning policy and government guidance
Avoid referring to matters that are irrelevant to planning, such as:
- boundary disputes or other property rights;
- the developer's motives;
- loss of property value, or loss of a view;
- matters covered by other laws.
