Tips on Addressing the Committee on Planning Issues

Keep your observations brief and relevant.

Remember 3 minutes isn't long!

Speak slowly and clearly.

Try to limit your views to relevant planning issues, for example:

  • external design, appearance and layout;
  • loss of light or overshadowing;
  • highway safety;
  • planning policy and government guidance
Avoid referring to matters that are irrelevant to planning, such as:

  • boundary disputes or other property rights;
  • the developer's motives;
  • loss of property value, or loss of a view;
  • matters covered by other laws.
