I have been given an Improvement Notice. What does this mean ?
If you have been issued with an Improvement Notice it is probably because you have failed to act on an issue previously mentioned in a past report.
An Improvement Notice is simply a legal document which requires work to be carried out within a certain period of time. It is an offence not to comply with an Improvement Notice and so it is important that you read the contents of the notice very carefully.
The notice and the accompanying letter will contain precise information and guidance on how to comply. Further help, of course, is available from the officer who issued you with the notice.
If you disagree with the contents of the notice, or feel the timescale given is unreasonable, it is important that you speak to the Environmental Services Manager (Food, Health & Safety and Licensing) about the matter as soon as possible.
