Private Sector Housing - Grants and Financial Assistance
2003 Housing Assistance Policy
The housing related grants and financial assistance, administered directly by the Private Sector Housing Team, under our 2003 Housing Assistance Policy are detailed below (use the links to find out more);
- Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) - a means tested grant (unless for a disabled child) for up to £30,000, to carry out adaptations to the home, following a referral from an Occupational Therapist
- Home Safety Grant (HSG) - a discretionary grant of between £50 and £2000, for low income households and vulnerable people, used for urgent works necessary to reduce or eliminate serious risk to health and safety
- Homecheck - A free safety and security check for applicants over 60; or registered disabled; or a family on income related benefits with a child under 5
- Disabled Facilities Loan (DFL) - a 'Top up' loan of up to £10,000, where Disabled Adaptions exceed the DFG maximum of £30,000.
- Home Improvement Loan- Interest free loans available to home owners living in the East Hampshire District in order to remove hazards from homes and to bring empty properties back into use.
Unfortunately there are no longer any grants available from this council specifically for property repairs. However, low income, or vulnerable households may be eligible for a Home Safety Grant (HSG) for an urgent safety issue, which can in some circumstances include home repairs.
