Housing Development
Affordable Housing in East Hampshire:
East Hampshire District Council aims to meet a wide range of housing needs by working closely with our partner Housing Associations to develop affordable housing and sustainable communities throughout the district. In the 2008/ 2009 development programme the target of 140 affordable homes was exceeded by 81%. 253 affordable homes were provided within the District. In 2009/10, 40 affordable homes were provided as a result of us exceeding last year's target and the economic climate. In 2010/11 this increased to 63 homes. It is hoped that new affordable housing will continue to increase into 2011/12 with a target of 90 homes.
Affordable homes will be delivered in a variety of ways, for example, by new build housing development, by negotiating a percentage of affordable housing on large private development sites, by regenerating existing buildings and by the purchase of properties 'off the shelf'. These homes will also provide a mix of tenures, such as affordable rent or an intermediate tenure such as part buy through the Homebuy scheme. Affordable rented homes will be available through Hampshire Home Choice. To contact the Housing Team via e-mail mailto: support.team@easthants.gov.uk
