EHDC hold a portfolio of property including industrial unit, shops and other commercial buildings. The Land and Property are an experienced and dedicated professional team. Our role is to ensure that the council's property (land and buildings) is managed to be best advantage and used as efficiently and effectively as possible, balancing the best financial return with supporting council service delivery.
The services we provide are:
- Buy and sell property
- Value property
- Make property development and regeneration happen
- Arrange for occupation of other people's property and for others to occupy our property (leasehold)
- Manage investment property to get best financial return for the council
- Undertake the council's corperate property review and asset management
- Seek to maximise the financial and business opportunities of property assets
- Generate money through sale of surplus property
- Ensure that the council has the right property to operate from
- Maintain property records of council owenership, occupation and use
- Provide general property advice to council services
- Manage Woolmer Industrial Estate

How do I check the ownership of a property or piece of land?
The council owns land and property across the district. The team can advise if the council owns a particular property or parcel of land.
Please note that the council does not hold records of privately owned land or property. If you would like information on privately owned property please contact the Land Registry- Tel: 0151 472 6666 or visit the website www.landreg.gov.uk

How do I report a property in disrepair that is owned by the council?
If you are a commercial tenant of the council, you can report items of disrepair by contacting Philip Brine. As a commercial tenant you may be responsible for repairs to the building and you should first check your responsibilities under your lease before making contact. If you are responsible for the repair you will be expected to make your own arrangemants to make good the disrepair.
