Private Sector Housing - Working with Private Landlords

The Private Sector Housing Team believe it is essential to build good working relations with private landlords in the District and we are keen to work with them to ensure they are well informed about current housing legislation. For some time, we have held Landlord Forum meetings, giving both the Council and landlords the opportunity to share ideas/views and look at good practice.

Previous meetings have concentrated on the legislation under the Housing Act 2004, which came into force on 6th April 2006, relating to Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). , Also new Fire Regulations, Tenancy Deposit Scheme and changes to Housing Allowances.
At our most recent meeting there was a presentation from the National Federation of Residential Landlords Association, outlining current issues. Representatives from Hampshire Fire and Rescue, The Citizens Advice Bureau and various other council departments that interface with landlords were also present.

The most reported benefit of attending the Landlord Forum, is the opportunity to meet, discuss and draw on the experience of other landlords and managing agents.

If you would like to attend any future forums we organise or have any other questions you can contact a member of the Private Sector Housing team on (01730) 234313 or alternatively e-mail PSHousing@easthants.gov.uk.
