EHDC Competency Framework
Every successful organisation owes its success to the efforts of its employees. To create and maintain this success, we must ensure that our employees are clear about what is expected of them, how they will be judged and how they can develop their careers to benefit both themselves and the Council.
The purpose of this competence framework is to provide employees of the Council with a clear statement of the skills and behaviours needed to sustain continuous improvement in service delivery and how they will be rewarded.
We have identified 12 key competencies and have divided into two groups:
Management Competencies – anyone who manages staff will need these attributes to be effective. They are:
• Plans & communicates
• Leads, inspires & empowers
• Solves problems & makes decisions
• Self aware
• Achievement & outcome focussed
• Politically aware
Only staff with direct line management responsibilities will be judges against these competencies.
Generic Competencies – these are the attributes we want everybody employed by the Council to demonstrate and develop. They are:
• Team working
• Organisational skills & focus
• Creativity & initiative
• Corporate knowledge
• Customer care
• Professionalism
All staff will be judged against these competencies.
