Cooling Tower Notification
If the non-domestic building or premises that you own/control contains a wet cooling tower or an evaporative condenser you must notify your local authority.
If the wet cooling towers/evaporative condenser is not properly maintained it can harbour organisms called legionella which can cause Legionaires disease. The purpose of this notification is to help inspectors from EHDC and the Health and Safety Executive when investigating an outbreak.
Once the notification is received the details will be entered onto a register and held by EHDC.
The notification must be in writing (including by electronic means).
If you change your equipment or remove it from your building or premises, you must notify us within 1 month of the change.
There is no charge for this registration.
