How well are we doing?
People who live, visit or work in East Hampshire want safe and healthy communities, clean streets, affordable housing and enjoyable leisure facilities. We are responsible for providing these and many other local public services – and we have a vision for future developments and improvements.
Our Council Strategy sets out what we will be achieving. Our mission statement is 'Improving people's lives' and our policies are designed to do that.
We continually monitor our performance against key aims, goals and performance indicators. We are committed to improving our performance and service quality. Our performance management information shows our achievements and provides an essential check on the health of our organisation.
Although we are doing well in many areas there remains potential to improve, including developing new ways of working and delivering services. We must do everything we can to provide the high quality, value for money services our customers expect.
Policy and performance
Continually checking the performance of an organisation enables opportunities for improvement to be identified and any necessary changes to be delivered.
Regular reports are provided for our senior management (e.g. the Joint Management Team, Cabinet and Overview and Scrutiny Committee). This ensures that all aspects of our performance are monitored and addressed.
All of our key performance management information is made publicly available.
Up to date information about the current year can be seen via our quarterly Performance Management Health Check Report.
Feedback is always welcomed, along with suggestions about performance information you want to see in the future.
Reports and agreements
You will find more useful information in these documents about the tools we use to analyse how well we are performing.
- Performance Management Framework
A detailed explanation of our performance management system. This helps to show how we monitor corporate targets and individual officers’ performance.
- Performance Indicators
Details of all the national and local performance indicators we collect, showing last year’s results and this year to date. We analyse and compare this data and the information shown helps residents and partners to judge our performance. Changes to performance indicators were introduced from April 2011, reflecting revised Government requirements.
- Annual Audit and Inspection Letter
Annual audit reports provide an overall summary of the independent Audit Commission’s assessment of EHDC and represent an essential element in the process of accountability for public money. These reports can be made available on request.
