The Planning Portal is a national one-stop online shop for planning information and services.
- submit a planning application electronically
- learn about the planning system
- find out whether you are likely to need planning permission
- find out about development policy in your area
- research the latest government policy
The main advantages are to submiting applications online through the portal are:
- savings on postage and printing costs
- immediate delivery and email acknowledgement
- online record of your completed applications
- online help function when completing applications
Please note: we can accept files submitted in pdf format only
If you start an application on the portal, then find you need to add more information, you can save a draft and complete it later.
Please ensure document attachment names are clearly identifiable e g existing elevations and floor plans, sections, design and access statement.
You can also submit the application form online and provide other documentation by post. This can be particularly useful if you are submitting through the Planning Portal for the first time, or are unsure of the process.
You can also pay application fees online and you will be guided through the fee calculator once the application has been completed.
