There are different forms covering various types of application, some of which can be combined (e.g. listed building and advertisement consent, householder and listed building).

Guidance documents

There are two documents to explain exactly what you need submit:

The government's document Guidance on information rquirements and validation contains information and details you must supply with any planning application.  It replaces Validation of Planning Applications from 6 April 2010 and can be viewed from here:

Guidance on information requirements and validation

This Council's Planning Application Requirements (Local)  includes national and local requirements for planning applications.  It can be downloaded as a pdf.

Planning Application Requirements (Local)

The document is divided into three parts:

    • Part I contains compulsory requirements for the submission of an application, some of which are required by law and other information that we consider necessary in all cases
    • Part II contains additional information which may be necessary for certain application types
    • Part III contains validation checklists for the different application types based on the information contained in Part II.

If the information required in Parts I to III is not included with any application we are entitled to declare the application invalid and not register it.

Planning Application Requirements (Local) was the subject of public consultatIon for six weeks between January and February 2008.  All representations received were considered by our Development Policy Panel on 28 February 2008 and the document was adopted on 2 April 2008.
