Planning Policy
Planning Policy deals with the long term planning strategy for the District (up to 2028). The service produces the Local Plan and covers heritage and countryside management.
Local Plan: Joint Core Strategy
This is being prepared jointly with the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA). It will guide the way new development, including housing and employment, will be planned up to 2028. The document was submitted to the Secretary of State on 25 May 2012 and a Public Examination commenced on 23 October 2012.
Local Plan: Second Review
This version of the Local Plan was adopted in 2006.
This is the current Local Plan which sets out the policies to guide new development in the district.
Local Development Scheme
This outlines the timetable for the preparation of all documents that will make up the new Local Plan: Joint Core Strategy.
Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
The CIL regulations enable authorities to raise finance for infrastructure by imposing a charge on development within their area.

Annual Monitoring Report (AMR)
This document provides an update on the Council's progress in producing the various documents that make up the new Local Plan and whether the objectives of Local Plan policies are being acheived. The 2012 Annual Monitoring Report is now available to view.
Development Briefs
The aim of development briefs is to give guidance on development on specific sites.
This will be taken into account when submitting a planning application.
Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
The SHLAA assesses potential sites throughout East Hampshire.
The purpose is to show that there would be enough suitable sites to meet housing demand over a five year period.
From 1 April 2013, sites within the South Downs National Park must be submitted directly to the National Park Authority (see page for details).
Hampshire Travellers Accommodation Assessment 2013
The Hampshire Travellers Accommodation Assessment 2013 sets out the findings of the study of accommodation needs undertaken by a local charity (Forest Bus Limited) on behalf of a consortium of eleven authorities in Hampshire, including East Hampshire District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority.
Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement explains what the Council will do to make sure that everyone in East Hampshire has the chance to be involved in planning documents and decisions.
Status of documents prepared by local communities (link to document)
Local Plans and Neighbourhood Plans are the only plans that are part of the statutory development plan. However, other plans and documents prepared by local communities can be material considerations in the development of planning policies and the determination of planning applications.
Heritage - Conservation, Countryside Management and Trees.
The Heritage Team advises planning officers on the impact of planning proposals upon historic buildings and conservation areas, trees and the landscape.
