Planning Development
Our role
The Head of Planning Services is responsible for all planning functions and has powers which include the ability to decide applications, serve notices and name streets.
The Planning Development team gives advice and makes decisions on planning applications. We are responsible for the promotion and control of development, the conservation and enhancement of the environment and local transport policy.
We also deal with appeals against decisions; make sure developments are built to the approved plans and make sure land or buildings are not used for unauthorised uses.
EHDC looks up to 15 years ahead in our Local Plan which is the statutory guide to how East Hampshire is expected to change and develop. This is a very important document and together with the Structure Plan prepared by Hampshire County Council, forms the basis of all our planning decisions. In addition, when dealing with planning issues, councillors and staff are guided by legislation, legal judgements and procedures.
