Garden Waste Collection Service
No need to spend your weekends queuing at your local tip to dispose of your garden waste - EHDC provides a service for collecting your garden waste from the kerbside.
The collections are fortnightly on the same day as your recycling, but by a different vehicle. You will need an East Hampshire District Council reusable durable woven plastic sack measuring 61cm X 48cm X 48cm (2’ X 1’6” X 1’6”) to put your garden waste in.
The annual charge is £25 for the first licence and £12.50 for subsequent licences, with a discount for those receiving Council Tax Benefit or Housing Benefit. You also need to buy sacks to go with your licence and these are £5 each.
What CAN go in the sack
grass cuttings
hedge cuttings
weeds
small branches
leaves (small amounts)
prunings
Max. weight: 25kg
What CANNOT go in the sack
soil/concrete/rubble
vegetable peelings
food scraps
coal ash
animal waste
commercial waste
general household waste
All garden waste collected by the reusable sack scheme is composted to make ‘Pro-Grow’, an organic soil conditioner, which you can buy at your local tip (Household Waste Recycling Centre).
