Recycling and Rubbish

East Hampshire District Council has teamed up with Winchester City Council to share environmental services across both areas, saving more than £2 million in the process.

The new contract means that Biffa Waste Service will now be collecting your bins.

New Bin Collection Days!

Biffa have re-arranged the collection rounds to make them more efficient, economic and environmentally friendly but this will mean many residents will soon have a new bin collection day.

The new collection days began on the week commencing October 17th.

You will receive a calendar through the post in the first two weeks of October informing you of your new day and your collection details for the next 12 months so keep it safe!

What happens to my recycling?

Your old paper, food and drinks cans, aerosols and plastic bottles are sorted and made into new ones.

Extra rubbish

You can dispose of excess and bulky waste at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre, (HWRCs). These are run by Hampshire County Council.

If you regularly produce excess waste please contact us on 0300 300 0013 for guidance on recycling more of your waste.

Should you be a family of 6 or have extreme extenuating circumstances, and are having difficulty managing your refuse despite recycling as much as possible, please contact us on the above numbers. We will assess your circumstances and see if you are eligible for an additional refuse bin.

Bins are the property of the resident. Care should be taken to ensure they are safe from theft or misuse by others, eg should have your house number or post code on them.

We can not be held responsible for their loss unless damaged or destroyed by the collection vehicle which does happen on rare occasions.

Help for the elderly and disabled people

Assisted Collection can be arranged for disabled, infirm and/or elderly residents. This means the bin, box or garden waste sack are collected from an agreed point such as outside your garage, to save you struggling with them.

Please contact Customer Services on 0300 300 0013
