Street cleaning
The council cleans public highways in the district and arranges for grass verges on highways to be cut.
It can arrange for rubbish to be removed, if it is dumped on public land, at the side of a road or in one of the shopping centres.
The work is carried out by a contractor called English Landscapes Maintenance Ltd. It also carries out cleaning on council owned land and in public car parks.
Litter bins on the public footway (pavement) or an area of public open space owned by the council will be emptied by EHDC's contractors. Some parish and town councils also own litter bins, which they are responsible for emptying.
