Land charges
The council maintains the local Land Charges Register and provides a search service for registered conveyancers, solicitors and members of the public.

Landlord advice - benefits
As well as advising tenants about housing benefit, the council provides a similar service to landlords.

The private sector housing team at the council work closely with owner occupiers, private tenants, landlords and residents of mobile homes.

To provide a comprehensive professional landscape design service and arboricultural service for the benefit of the Council and its external customers.

Late night refreshment
You need a licence to sell or supply alcohol, as well as to provide entertainment, music, dancing, theatre, cinema, indoor sporting events, hot food or drink after 11pm.

Leaking drains
The council offers a 24-hour chargeable service for clearing blocked drains. Public sewers are the responsibility of the water authority and road drains are maintained by the highway authority.

Leisure centres
The council is responsible for three leisure centres in the district - Alton Sports Centre, Mill Chase Leisure Centre in Bordon and the Taro Leisure Centre in Petersfield.

Licensing
EHDC is responsible for a range of licences and registrations from alcohol and entertainment to environmental permits.

Licensing - animals
The animal welfare team deals with complaints about noise or smell from animals. It also licenses a number of animal establishments.

Licensing - taxis
All hackney carriages (taxis) and private hire vehicles in East Hampshire must be licensed by the council. The council carries out checks to make vehicles and drivers are safe.

EHDC hold a portfolio of property including industrial units, shops and other commercial buildings.

Listed buildings
The council’s heritage team provides specialist advice on historical buildings both listed and in conservation areas. They can also tell you if your building is listed.

Litter - fly tipping
The council will remove waste and rubbish left dumped by fly tippers on public highways and public land.

The council cleans public highways in the district and arranges for grass verges on highways to be cut.

Loos
The council provides nine public toilets around the district. Most are cleaned at least once a day.

Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Link to external site)
Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire is Her Majesty’s representative in the county and is responsible for arrangements made for royal visits to the county.

Lost dog
The council collects loose or stray dogs and returns them to their owners or arranges for them to be re-housed. We also deal with complaints about barking dogs and dog fouling.

If you want to collect money for charity, either through a street or house to house collection, or charitable lottery, you need a licence from the council.
