New leisure centres for East Hampshire

East Hampshire is ready to receive fantastic new leisure facilities.

Two brand new leisure centres are to be built - in Alton and in Whitehill & Bordon - while the Taro Leisure Centre in Petersfield will receive a multi-million pound refurbishment.

The new and improved facilities – a total investment of nearly £30m - are being delivered by East Hampshire District Council and the sports and leisure provider Everyone Active.

The new centres will be built during 2019 while the refurbishment of the Taro will start this year.

Everyone Active

EHDC has signed a 20-year contract with Everyone Active which now runs all three leisure centres on a day-to-day basis.

The agreement between East Hampshire District Council and Everyone Active has allowed the new facilities to be delivered and will provide an income for the council to put towards vital local services.

As part of running the centres Everyone Active will also be promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging local people to improve their to take up sports and active hobbies.

Consultation

A public consultation and feasibility studies took place prior to Everyone Active taking over the leisure centres.
