Community grants available from 1 April

East Hampshire District Council has made thousands of pounds available to support community projects from 1 April.

Local clubs and organisations looking for financial backing to run community activities or launch projects can now apply for funding.

Two grant schemes opened again on 1 April:

  • The Supporting Communities Fund - A grant of up to £25,000 for capital costs or up to £10,000 per annum for revenue costs
  • Councillor community grant scheme - A grant of up to £1,000 from your local councillor

The Supporting Communities Fund

In 2019 East Hampshire District Council put £1 million into the Supporting Communities Fund to be used over three years. It offers grants of up to £25,000 to community projects focused on supporting mental health in residents, reducing social isolation and supporting the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. This year EHDC refilled the fund with another £1 million that will last a further three years.

Councillor Community Grant Scheme

Councillors are given £4,500 a year to support projects and organisations in their patch with grants of up to £1,000. As part of the council’s fight against climate change, £1,000 must be used for environmental projects. Applications can be received from 1 April until 28 February 2022 and successful applications are distributed on a first come first served basis.

Tracey Wood, Head of Housing and Community Engagement, said: “Supporting the community through these difficult times is our top priority at East Hampshire District Council and that’s why we have made thousands of pounds available to local groups and projects.

“The district is full of excellent organisations and charities which work really hard for the benefit of the whole community, but they need financial support to keep going.

“If you run a project that will help the wider community you can now apply for the funding you need, either from the Supporting Communities Fund or from your local councillor’s grant allowance.”
