Glass recycling

Due to staffing levels at Norse South East (NSE), the frequency of collections to glass banks has been reduced.

Despite best efforts to keep all collections running for as many services as possible, East Hampshire District Council and NSE have had to prioritise the more critical collections, like rubbish, recycling, garden and clinical waste. This also includes kerbside collection of glass.

Visitors using the glass recycling areas are kindly asked to take their items home and try again another day or find an alternative glass bank to recycle at if they find the bin is full when they arrive.

Leaving glass around the area can be dangerous to others as well as our crews. It also adds to the time taken at each site when collections take place.

The staff shortages are due to a national shortage of qualified large vehicle drivers, this is affecting the whole economy, not just waste services.

East Hampshire District Council will keep this decision under constant review and update residents through its website.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask residents to please bear with us at this difficult time.
