Local elections - the results

Thousands turned out to vote at the local elections on Thursday, while postal votes also saw a big increase on previous years.

Voters had their say in multiple elections, helping to choose their local representative on Hampshire County Council and Hampshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

East Hampshire District Council ran two by-elections, for Bramshott and Liphook and for Grayshott wards, and there were ballots for Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council and for Beech Parish Council.

Beech residents also turned out in force to vote in their Neighbourhood Plan referendum.

Across East Hampshire turn-out for the elections was 38 per cent, comparable to previous years, but there was a large upturn in postal votes.

More than 20,000 postal votes were requested, around 3,000 more than previous elections, reflecting the impact of the pandemic.

Residents who turned up at the district’s 70 polling stations to vote in person were met with strict safety guidelines, with one-way systems and social distancing in place and masks, hand sanitiser and spare pencils on offer.

The results of the East Hampshire District Council By-elections are as follows:
