£952,000 in grants issued to businesses in need

East Hampshire District Council issued £952,000 in grants last week to 377 businesses that had previously qualified for additional restrictions grants (ARG) and new applicants have until midnight on Sunday 25 July to apply.

The additional restrictions grants are for businesses that have been severely affected by the extension of coronavirus restrictions.

A new round of funding has been made available following the delay to the end of lockdown until 19 July 2021.

Sector-specific grants are also available for those worst affected. Eligibility criteria apply.

Councillor Charles Louisson, EHDC portfolio holder for finance, said:

“While most businesses in the district have been able to reopen, some of the restrictions that remain in place are affecting people’s ability to earn. For example, with fewer people travelling outside the country, taxi drivers aren’t making as many airport runs.

“These grants are to support businesses that haven’t seen a return to pre-pandemic demand and will hopefully mean that they can keep going until all restrictions are lifted.”
