Waste update - Thursday 16 February 2023

Message from EHDC Leader, Cllr Richard Millard

We have recruited a leading industry expert to work as part of our waste management team to ensure the district's waste services get back on track as quickly as possible.

Our new team member will be working with Norse SE to ensure its recovery plan is delivered in the time scales required, that all missed rounds are completed, and that they continue to dramatically improve the service. She will be working alongside Norse to deal directly with any issues so that they are resolved as quickly as possible and brings a wealth of expertise and experience to complement the existing team.

She was on site at the Bedford Road depot this morning, and has more than 10 years’ experience supporting numerous councils across the country in delivering environmental services, so she has extensive experience in this area. She has worked as both an operational manager and a client officer across a wide range of related services.

The new team member has significant experience providing strategic, operation and compliance focussed assistance to both public and private sector organisations for their environmental and waste management requirements. She has worked with clients to implement programmes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, develop operational facilities and create efficient and accurate recording and reporting practices to provide the best possible services for residents.

In addition to this, Norse has already brought in an extra vehicle this week to ensure that we have extra capacity and resilience to catch-up with missed bins by Saturday (18th Feb).

We're still not where we want to be just yet but we are pulling out all the stops to get there - and I won't rest until we are delivering the high standards you would expect.

Please leave your bin out to avoid being missed. If you notice that your neighbours’ bins have been collected but yours hasn’t, please report it as missed.
