Government coronavirus advice requires tenants to stay at home which will put increased pressure on home appliances and heating systems.
Landlords remain legally obligated to ensure properties meet the required safety standards – urgent, essential health and safety repairs should continue to be made.
All households should be fitted with smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide alarm in line with legislation. These should continue to be tested regularly.
Landlords still have a legal duty to ensure annual gas safety checks are completed and recorded.
Following this guidance, we will continue to request gas safety certificates when they are due.
