Household glass collections have restarted
From Monday 3 October, household glass collections have restarted across the district. Where possible, crews will take any excess glass on the first collection, provided it is in a suitable container to be carried and emptied into the vehicle.
We are sorry for the disruption to the service and thank you for your patience during the suspension.
What can go in?
Rinsed out glass bottles and jars of all colours (without corks or tops).
What can’t go in?
- Light bulbs
- Glass panes
- Lead crystal glass
- Non-glass items
- Broken glass (this should be carefully wrapped and put into your refuse bin)
Your box will not be collected if it has incorrect items. You will have to remove these items before your next collection.
Glass is collected from homes every four weeks. Your glass should be put out in a 38 litre box.
Too much glass?
Only glass in your EHDC box can be collected. If you regularly have excess glass, additional glass boxes can be purchased online. Only 38 litre boxes will be collected.
What to do if your bin is missed
Please leave your bin out and report it as missed through MyEHDC.
Missed bins must be reported by 4pm on the next working day after your scheduled collection.
If you do not report a missed collection to us within this timeframe, you will have to wait until your next scheduled collection.
