East Hampshire District Council recognised the sacrifice made by the men and women who fight for our nation’s freedom by flying the Armed Forces Day flag over its offices in Petersfield this week.
The flag was raised by EHDC Chairman, Cllr Lynn Evans, on Monday and will fly over Penns Place until Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June.
Now in its ninth year, the day provides an opportunity for the people of the UK to demonstrate their support for their Armed Forces.
Cllr Evans said: “I am proud to raise this flag on behalf of all those in East Hampshire who value the fantastic job the men and women of the Armed Forces do.
“They put themselves in harm’s way to protect our way of life and we want them to know how much we appreciate the risks they take and the sacrifices they make.
“Armed Forces Day is the perfect way to do this and I am happy to see the flag flying proudly over Penns Place this week.”
