EHDC services during the State Funeral

A bank holiday has been confirmed on Monday 19 September, the day of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The council offices will be closed but the council can still be reached in an emergency.

Below is a list of some of the services directly affected by the closure.

Book of condolence

A book of condolence has been laid out in the reception at Penns Place, Petersfield, and will be available during office hours until 5pm on Tuesday 20 September. The book will be unavailable while the office is shut over the bank holiday.

A book of condolence and an area to lay flowers in tribute to the Queen has also been arranged at St Peter’s Church.

Car parks

The council will not be charging fees in any EHDC-owned car parks on bank holiday Monday 19 September.

Council meetings

EHDC’s Council meetings were cancelled this week as a mark of respect for the period of National Mourning. The Overview and Scrutiny Committee has been rearranged for Tuesday 20 September and Cabinet has been rearranged for Thursday 22 September.

Non-essential business at the council will stop over the bank holiday, however in an emergency the council can be reached on 01730 266551 or through the council’s Out of hours services

Waste collections

Waste collections will not be carried out on bank holiday Monday. Please put your bin out the following day instead.

Collections due Monday 19 September will take place on Tuesday 20 September.

Collections due Tuesday 20 September will take place on Wednesday 21 September.

Collections due Wednesday 21 September will take place on Thursday 22 September.

Collections due Thursday 22 September will take place on Friday 23 September.

Collections due Friday 23 September will take place on Saturday 24 September.

Normal service will resume the week commencing Monday 26 September.
