Residents can find out everything they need to know about East Hampshire District Council elections from a new website designed to make life easy for voters.
The website will give details of candidates in each ward, voting times and the address of each polling station location – particularly useful as many East Hampshire polling stations have been moved.
Using www.whocanIvotefor.co.uk residents can enter their postcode to see information relating to the election on Thursday 2 May.
Candidates for East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) are also being encouraged to include information about themselves and what they stand for on the site, to help residents make up their mind who to vote for.
Gill Kneller, EHDC Chief Executive, said: “One of the barriers preventing people from voting is that they don’t know enough about the candidates to make their decision.
“This website gives residents all the information they need to know about when and where to vote and gives candidates the chance to let their electorate know about their views and policies.
“We want to get as many people voting as possible in every election and if we can remove some of the barriers that might put people off then so much the better.
“Many of our polling stations have moved this year, so don’t forget to check where your polling station is before you head off to vote.”
The website might be particularly valuable in this election as many polling stations have changed, with previous ones closed down and other locations used for the first time.
Voters can check the location of their polling station by using the website www.whocanIvotefor.co.uk, by going to the council’s website www.easthants.gov.uk, by checking their polling card or by phoning the elections team on 01730 234350.
